Pete Hegseth’s Hot Mic Moment Goes Viral & The Internet Has Already Reached A Verdict

A little tip for anyone in politics who is at a podium ready to talk to a room full of reporters: chances are, a microphone somewhere is going to pick up anything you say. Likewise, it’s going to pick up anything you do that causes noise, like, well farting. That’s what appears to have happened for Pete Hegseth and, wouldn’t you know it, someone shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter).

The United States Secretary of War has been accused of drinking alcohol at the podium before, but for many, the idea of Hegseth’s accidental flatulence is much more interesting. Mostly because, if that’s really what happened in the video, it means everyone can make up the best and worst puns involving Hegseth farting in a room full of the press.

No one believes Pete Hegseth didn’t fart.

In the clip, Hegseth does not address the possible far. However, as he stands at a podium and gets ready to speak to the room, the clear sound of what is obviously a fart is heard. No, someone didn’t sit on a whoopie cushion somewhere in the room. Hegseth even glances up for a second after the sound, seemingly to check and see if someone heard it.

Is that taking fart-gate way too far? Maybe, but people who commented on the X post are in agreement that the sound could not have been anything else. People are convinced that Hegseth just couldn’t hold it in and that he let one rip, even if he didn’t mean to. Would it have been better if he said something? Honestly, I don’t even know at this point.

People are making up puns about the fart incident.

After the clip from the press conference was shared to X, the person who shared it posted in the comments in reply to the video.

They wrote, “It’s so annoying that Twitter demonetized me, man. I’d probably have made a cool $500 from making Hegshart jokes today alone lol.”

Afterward, they added, “I think this tweet may have broken containment…Like that shart broke boxer briefs containment.”

Another person wrote, “Biological weapons of mass destruction in the White House! President Xi, fire at will!”

“War criminal setting off chemical warfare to the press,” someone joked. Clearly, everyone loves a good fart joke, especially if it is at the expense of one of Donald Trump’s political besties.

To the same tune, another person wrote, “That’s a biological attack against his own people, and the use of mustard gas is a clear war crime.”

A user also commented, “Hegfart 4k.” It sounds like “Hegfart” might just take off where some are concerned.

For some, it just proves how much of a joke Pete Hegseth is.

Hegseth was at a news briefing about Iran. According to Politico, Hegseth claimed that the conflict in Iran resulted in a win from the U.S., but that the military would remain there. His statements about the war, however, aren’t what people are talking about now. That’s mostly because those who are talking about Hegseth’s potential flatulence are the same people who just don’t care for him as a whole.

This guy’s in charge of the ‘War Dept’ but can’t even control his own butt?” Someone wrote on X. “We are so cooked. Bring it, we deserve all of it.”

In the comments under a TikTok video featuring the same clip, someone said, “This administration is a joke.”

Another TikTok user wrote, “That’s how he and Trump communicate with each other.”

It’s hard for some to take the Trump Administration seriously when there are videos like this floating around. Even if it isn’t real, or if it is altered in some way, it proves to many what they already felt about Trump and Hegseth.
