Felecia Rodnick was visiting the grave of her WWII veteran father, Walter Rodnick, last year not too long after he'd been buried. She was, of course, already grieving the loss of her father, but when she got to his headstone that day, she was absolutely shocked and confused.
It looked as it the grave had been dug up on both sides of the headstone.
At first, Rodnick thought there was absolutely no way that the cemetery would have dug up her father's casket and moved it without her being there. Usually, cemeteries need a permit to do this.
Yet, when she got a voicemail from the cemetery, it was confirmed. Her father had been dug up and moved to the other side of his headstone because he had been buried on the wrong side to begin with, according to the cemetery representative's voice mail message.
This year, though, a pastor from a local church caught wind of Rodnick's story and wants to do everything he can to help. He has put up an offer to have her father re-buried one, final time. Except, this third time, Rodnick will finally get the closure she needs, knowing that her veteran father's burial was done properly, with her at his side.
Even a year after it all happened, Rodnick still tears up when she thinks about the incident, which shouldn't have been done without her consent, according to the State Department of Public Health.
Can you imagine if you got to the cemetery and saw fresh earth over a loved one's grave?
