Newscaster Finds Missing Boy He’s Reporting On While The Cameras Are Rolling

It's what no parent ever wants to discover. When 10-year-old Paul Ezekiel Fagan disappeared from his Tampa, FL, home his grandmother was heartbroken.

She and family members searched for Fagan but couldn't find him. She called the sheriff's office to execute a more formal search. ABC Action News reporter Cameron Polom was on the scene covering the story the morning after he disappeared.

Never in a million years did Polom expect this to happen.

While walking around the neighborhood, Polom spotted a kid sitting all by himself in bushes near a fence.

"I said, 'Have you been missing?' I said, 'Come here, buddy,' and I just picked him up and I said, 'Would you mind if I lift you up?'" Polom said. "And I just said, 'Come with me.' I just held his hand and walked him over to you guys. It's crazy."

Fagan was discovered to be hiding nearby, although police missed him quite a few times. The 10-year-old has a mild learning disability but this was the first time he had ever wandered off.

So why did Fagan decide to run away? A typical kid reason: He needed some space from his baby brother who looks up to him.

Needless to say, the reunion, captured on camera, was an emotional one between Fagan, his father, and his grandmother.
