5-Year-Old Is Bullied On Bus, So Mom Finds Out School Lets Him Walk Home All Alone Instead

Kathleen Hotard of Houma, LA, was horrified to learn her 5-year-old son, Kenneth, never got on or off his bus after school. Instead, cops found the little boy walking along the side of the road, all by himself.

Kenneth was spotted a half mile from his elementary school, walking home in the wrong direction.

After reuniting with him at home, Kathleen told reporters he refused to ride the bus because his classmates were bullying and taunting him.

She also said he lied and told a substitute teacher he had written permission to walk home alone, and when he claimed to have misplaced it, the teacher gave him permission anyway.

"I confirmed I never wrote a note, and they confirmed they never saw a note," Kathleen told WDSU.

However, Kenneth was so frightened and nervous about the ordeal that he urinated on himself.

Readers are conflicted about who is in the wrong here. Some say Kenneth's school should never have let him walk alone without a note. Others say parents should ultimately be held accountable for their children.

The most important thing is that Kenneth is okay. Hopefully his story will help contribute to the conversation about the bullying epidemic happening in our schools and beyond.
