At a certain age, many elderly individuals decide that it's time to accept they only have a few more years left to live, and so they start making preparations for the inevitable.
This is a familiar process to many people, as they often help their mom, dad, or grandparents make big decisions about what happens after they die.
Such topics of discussion are where this person will be buried if they choose to be interred. The passing down of certain possessions and family heirlooms is also a debate held among concerned family members.
But one elderly man in Canada decided to take matters into his own hands.
Jimmy Kickham is almost 90 years old, an age many people would consider themselves lucky to reach.
He has also run his own construction company for the past 50 years. Part of his job is sometimes digging graves with his backhoe. And recently, he decided that it was time to dig his own grave — literally.
Kickham picked out a plot of land and dug a hole, which would eventually become his final resting place. The grandfather has no reason to expect the worst anytime soon, but it doesn't hurt to be prepared for it at his age.
So what does his family think of his bold move? His kids and grandkids were a little taken aback by his grim thinking, but it certainly makes for a fascinating story they can pass down for generations to come!
