Grandma Boop sits at the end of the table, wearing a silver crown adorned with light pink flowers and magenta feathers, giggling as she listens to the recorded voices of her children blaring out of a plastic speaker of a recording book.
She quickly trades her tiara for a turkey as she tears through her gifts. As she lifts the bright yellow tissue paper out of the cardboard box, she studies the back of the packet before reading the label out loud.
"What is this? Oh! Clown gloves… parade gloves with snaps," she reads. Then she turns her bright blue eyes up at her son and asks, "Is that so I can salute when they come by?"
As she puts the box aside, her daughter comes around to her side and instructs her to push number 10 on the book. The sound of her children's voices comes streaming out, informing her that she is now officially a participant in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
She sweeps a quizzical glance around the room before offering a confused chuckle. "How am I… I'm participating… who's going with me?" she stammers. "You're going to send me into the city by myself and I'm going to stand there and wave? OK."
She looks dreamily off into the distance and mentions how she hasn't been in forever and what an amazing experience it's going to be. In fact, it had been quite a long time — over 30 years. Her daughter realizes she still doesn't understand. "No, you're actually going to be in the parade — we got you in the parade," she says.
Immediately, Grandma Boop's face crumples and tears begin to flow down her cheeks. She chokes out, "How did you get me… Am I really in the parade?" Her kids explain to her that they were able to pull some strings.
Still in a daze, she continues to ask a few more times, then quickly turns toward her kids, eyes widening, and asks, "Are we sneaking in?"
They all chuckle as she tears open her last gift — a clown horn. She playfully squeezes it and gasps, "Oh, I hope it's a nice day — I can't wait!" If watching this grandma's reaction brightens your day, be sure to SHARE this video with your friends and brighten theirs too!
