Television star and icon Florence Henderson passed away on Thanksgiving from heart failure, surrounded by friends and family at the age of 82.
Florence Henderson is best known for her role as Carol Brady on the beloved sitcom The Brady Bunch, alongside the late Robert Reed as her husband and a combined family of six children.
Florence was born on Valentine's Day in 1934 as the youngest of 10 children. She grew up in southwestern Indiana in a small town with her Irish Catholic family. During the Great Depression, she was taught how to sing by her mother and that is where her career began.
She was singing in grocery stores by age 12, then eventually hit the stage, performing in musicals like Oklahoma! and South Pacific.
In 1969 she began her role as Carol Brady and the rest was history. From that day forward she has been a beloved matriarch to every fan who has ever watched the series. Despite the fact the show ended over 40 years ago, it is still a classic that is watched and adored by many.
Just recently, Florence reunited with her on-screen daughter Marcia (Maureen McCormick) on Dancing with the Stars to reprise their roles as mother and daughter. "Florence Henderson was a dear friend for so very many years," McCormick shared with her fans on Twitter.
