If you have an online store you really love, there's a good chance you have items saved in your basket for later. Maybe you're just waiting for payday, or you want to have an easy gift list to give your family for your birthday, or you just use it as motivation to work hard. Some sites have great options like "save for later" baskets or "wish list" baskets. But others just have the main shopping cart, which can be problematic if you accidentally click on "check out."
Alex Dello constantly perused Sephora's online store, putting anything and everything in her basket. If she liked the product and hoped she could get it some day, she put it in her basket. Eventually, her cart had $733 worth of makeup in it.
But the makeup-obsessed teen learned the hard way to keep her wish list separate when she accidentally ordered a ton of makeup from Sephora.
The problem was, her mom's credit card information was saved on the Sephora account and she did not have permission to buy anything, let alone $733 worth. As soon as she got the purchase confirmation, Alex freaked out. After calling customer service and asking them to refund the card, she found out that it was too late, and the order had already been processed.
Luckily, Alex's mom didn't kill her (which she thought was a definite possibility), but instead told her that the $733 of makeup would be her only Christmas gift this year.
