Sight is one of the easiest senses for us to take for granted. However, those who do suffer from blindness never cease to amaze us with their astonishing perseverance and adaptability.
This amazing video exemplifies just how amazingly perceptive those who have lost their sight really are.
In this clip, three blind Americans team up with sculptor Pam to attempt to create a likeness of their loved ones. Of course, the catch is that they haven't been able to actually see the people they are describing in a number of years – if ever.
Throughout the project, all three of the participants give insight into their worlds without sight.
One man, Jeff explains that an occasion where he longs for sight would is something like a meteor shower, where he explains that he just has to, "smile and enjoy their enjoyment," speaking of the other people around him.
Another woman, Marty, who hadn't seen her now grown-up son since he was a little boy says, "What I remember was a little tiny tyke who was running around the house."
When another woman, Camille, was asked if there was anything she was happy to not be able to see she answered, "the pain in people's faces. I feel it though."
The finished products showed that although the participants are unable to see, that they have impressive observation skills through their other senses and that they, most importantly, can truly feel the love and support of their loved ones.
