Man Rings Doorbell To Offer Yard Work, Then Hidden Camera Reveals He Robbed Him In Plain Sight

Having a package stolen right from your doorstep is such a disappointment, and with more online purchases being made this holiday season, it is something we all need to look out for.

Dennis Vroegh knows this all too well.

The Tucson, AZ, man installed a new doorbell with a camera attached to it. The camera turns on when it senses motion near the doorbell and starts recording. With the camera's wide-angle lens, Dennis is able to use an accompanying phone app, called Ring.com, to see who is at his door from any location.

Even though Dennis was in Sierra Vista, AZ, when a young man rang his doorbell, he was able to see and speak to him using the recording doorbell app.

The man at Dennis' door asks if he needs yard work to be done.

"I'm not interested, but thank you," Dennis replies remotely, using the app.

Later on, Dennis' friends asked him how his doorbell worked. While going over the footage, they saw the same man from before steal a package clean off Dennis' doorstep.

"We noticed the guy had taken a package from our front door that had been delivered by the postal service," he recalls. Dennis called the police and headed back to his home in Tucson. In a surprising twist, he eventually found and approached the man who robbed him.

He told the package thief that he took a package of his. Without any hesitation, the package thief agreed, returning the stolen goods to Dennis. Unfortunately, the thief fled before police could do anything about the situation, but at least Dennis got his $14 worth of Keurig coffee filters back.

What did Dennis have to say about all of this? In the end, he explains, "You never know who's watching you or what's watching you."
