Weddings are expensive. Whether you're the one saying "I do" or simply a guest, it's an event that is going to inevitably put you back a few dollars.
Of course, this is especially true if you're the wealthy father of the bride and expected to more or less fund the entire ceremony.
However, Ajay Munot decided to think outside the box when it came to his gift to his daughter and her husband-to-be for their wedding in India. The decision was made on December 12, after Munot took advice from a fellow businessman and family friend.
Munot was expected to give the couple a gift valued at over $100,000, according to the Telegraph.
Instead, Ajay, a wheat and cloth trader, decided the money would be better spent on the less fortunate. He used the money to create a whopping 90 houses for the homeless. The donation resulted in the erection of an entire colony of homes. Each home is 12 feet by 20 feet, and has two windows, two doors, and light, and is even painted.
"We have responsibilities towards our society and we tried to comply with it," Munot told the New Indian Express. "This is the new chapter in history and I hope that the same concept will be followed by other rich communities."
Best of all, his daughter is totally on board with the idea. "I am very happy with the decision and will consider it my marriage gift," she said.
