A pregnant mother had no idea why her hormone levels were so abnormal — a woman at work was just a week behind her in their pregnancies, and that co-worker was barely showing.
During her first ultrasound visit, the mother (and her giddy husband) got an explanation for the abnormalities that neither saw coming: they were having twins.
What was abnormal for a singleton turned out to be standard for twins.
The expectant couple documented their ultrasound with their doctor and it was hilarious. Previous exams only showed that there was one heartbeat, but the doctor was quick to point out the other body living in mom's womb.
Dad was in such shock that he completely tuned out the doctor. He was amazed at having two babies, being able to see their little heartbeats, and in utter awe of the moment he got to see his children for the first time.
The doctor was patient as can be, while daddy couldn't get a grip on the big news. While the parents decided to wait on learning the gender of their twins until certain they are in good health, the doctor believed the babies were most likely identical.
