Mom Drags Toddler To 4 Doctors For Stiff Neck, Then Realizes She’s Growing ‘Second Skeleton’

Every day, we take for granted all the physical things we are able to do. Most of us have the ability to walk and run around without a care. We pick up toys off the floor and can make our own coffee in the morning. There is no shortage of actions we are able to do because of the way our bodies can move.

But as Jasmin Floyd's movement becomes more and more limited, she's taking pleasure in the small tasks she's still able to perform. To the average person, doing the dishes is a chore we avoid. But the young woman takes immense pleasure in it because it's one of the few things she can do without assistance.

When she was just a toddler, Floyd was diagnosed with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP). It's a rare disease that affects 1 in about 2 million people.

The illness causes a person's muscles, tendons, and ligaments to turn to bone over the course of their lifetime.

On her way to kindergarten, Floyd complained to her mom about a stiff neck. Her mother dismissed the pain at first, thinking it was caused by her daughter sleeping the wrong way. But after seeing four doctors about the issue, the family received the devastating diagnosis. Her shoulders were the first to become paralyzed.

Now, years later, Floyd is making the most of her life while she can. She's determined to live to the fullest before she totally loses her mobility.
