Veteran Leaves Home For The Weekend, But When He Comes Back His House Looks Completely Different

Veteran Erich Orrick served in the Army for 12 years. And when he came home he decided to help out his fellow veterans instead of taking time for himself.

He started his own charity, called Wish for Our Heroes, in 2009 and it focuses on helping veterans get things like new kitchen appliances, help with childcare, or an extra set of hands when moving. Orrick has thrown himself head first into helping everyone else out, so when the time came to thank him for his help, a diabolical plan had to be made.

That’s where NFL players Pat McAfee and Colby Fleener come in.

The two purposely sent Erich to Chicago for the weekend so they could get inside his house and give it a new look.

And while the family was gone, new appliances were put in, new furniture was added to create a homework station for Orrick’s two daughters, and Orrick’s man cave got sprucing up.

After seeing the house Orrick couldn’t believe it and was so appreciative of the time and effort everyone gave to give him such a fantastic gift.

"I'm completely spellbound. It's amazing," he said. "My life has been focused on helping other people. … It was a very humbling experience, being the person that was being helped.”

But as a veteran he doesn’t want the attention to be taken away from the veterans who also need help, and plans on continuing his charity’s mission of helping as many as he can.
