Eight years ago, Polly and Joe were just two single people attending college in Sussex, United Kingdom. When they laid eyes on one another, everything changed.
The attraction was instant, they said, and they've been a couple ever since. In May 2016, Polly and Joe, who both have Down syndrome, had a gorgeous wedding.
Polly wanted there to be a "festival" vibe at the wedding, which they were able to achieve through decorations, food, and floral arrangements.
She told RockNRoll Bride, "The main things that made our wedding different is that we both have Down's Syndrome [sic]. Also we had a unicorn throne to sit on which was the most amazing talking point of the day!"
Polly and Joe's wedding also featured singing waiters and a family band, which made the entire day feel very festive and celebratory.
Almost 200 guests came to celebrate with Polly and Joe, and they were very happy to have a large audience for their special day.
Polly said, "My advice to other couples, especially to young adults with special needs, is to live the dream, believe in yourselves and that anything can be possible. It would be wonderful if our story could touch the lives of others struggling to cope with any kind of disability or inequality. The greatest thing is to love and be loved in return."
Their wedding centered on their belief in love and in dreams, which was obvious through their song choices. Three of the featured songs were: "You've Got A Friend In Me," "When You Wish Upon A Star," and "I'm A Believer." If this wedding doesn't make you believe in true love, nothing will!
