26-Year-Old Has Been Battling Brain Cancer For 20 Years, Finally Takes Dream Trip To White House

Mark Hamilton, a 26-year-old from Cleveland, OH, recently got to go on an incredible visit to Washington, D.C.

For the past 20 years, Mark has been in and out of the hospital, after being diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer at age 6. He's had 18 surgeries and now takes multiple medications every day.

Last summer, Mark was given only six months to live. But Mark isn't letting his diagnosis get the best of him.

"I'm a cool, calm, and collected type of guy, so I just pray for peace and try to be mellow," he says in the video below. "I mean, everybody has a death date — some know it, and some don't know the date."

Mark's mother has been through his entire journey with him. "She set the tone for my drive," Mark says, "and for me not to just sit down and allow this disease to take away everything that makes me myself."

Mark's mom tries to see the positives in his disease, saying that knowing how much time he has left really allows Mark to live his life to the fullest and take advantage of every opportunity.

Wanting to live life fully is the reason Mark put together a bucket list, which includes meeting Beyoncé, Oprah Winfrey, and President Barack Obama. Recently, he was able to go on a trip to Washington, D.C., with his family, where he got to visit the White House. Although President Obama wasn't there, Mark felt that the trip was truly a blessing.
