Owner Texts Neighbors Looking For Lost Dog, Then They Find Him In The Woods Chained To Tree

When Cindy Bess took her dog, Dillon, out in the yard, she didn't expect him to run past the invisible fence and into the woods — but he did.

Cindy turned to her friends and neighbors for help, texting them and begging them to search for Dillon when they could. He had to be in the woods, so one of her neighbors, Sue Ziegler, headed out.

Looking for him wasn't easy: Every wet tree stump was black, and could have been easily confused for the dog.

Then suddenly, she saw a head move and ran over to check it out. Sure enough, it was Dillon. But the state he was in was deeply upsetting: The poor animal was stuck in a trap, clamped around his leg, and chained to a tree.

The dog was found 18 hours after he disappeared. That whole time, he was outside, in an ice storm, with no way to escape.

He could have died, but vets gave him a clean bill of health once he was freed! Aside from a flesh wound, he was safe and sound and able to return home to recover. There wasn't even a broken bone!

Hopefully, a shaken-up Dillon will never venture past the fence again!
