Keeper Taps Albino Alligator’s Nose, Then She Opens Her Jaws To Reveal All-White Mouth

In the wild, it isn't easy to witness an animal in its natural habitat, especially if the animal is a predator. Humans must stay at a safe distance away from these creatures and admire them from afar. But if we happen to catch a glimpse of them, they are not usually very rare breeds.

Alligators are not creatures we can have up-close and personal encounters with, but one clip is allowing us to do that.

The footage shows Pearl the alligator emerging from the water and onto a dock. The camera's proximity to the animal is frightening, but her color is also quite extraordinary!

The all-white alligator, who lives in Gatorland in Orlando, FL, is albino. Her condition makes her a valuable target for trappers, who would sell her rare skin. The theme park rescued her and gave her a home to share with other alligators with skin pigmentation mutations like hers.

Only three out of every million alligators are born with a genetic condition similar to Pearl's.

In the footage, one of her keepers taps her gently on the nose so she will "smile." The 105-pound creature then opens her massive jaws to reveal that the inside of her mouth is just as white as the rest of her body! Sitting totally still, she looks just like a statue.
