Woman Buys Ugly Home In 1994, 21 Years Later It’s Transformed With Colorful Tiles

When Cheri Pann bought a seemingly ugly home in 1994, she had no idea it would become a major California tourist attraction. She intended to make an art studio with Gonzalo Duran, but it became something absolutely magical, both in its design, and what it did for the pair!

First, they were just working on the project together, but soon after they put their creative minds to work, they fell in love! Now they live together in this home, which became a mosaic-tiled masterpiece. The pair first decided to break up tiles and cover some of the sore spots, but it became a colorful explosion of exceptional design.

Every single inch of their home is covered in the bright colored tiles, with three-dimensional pieces added in. Every single thing added was done by one of these artists' hands, making for a one-of-a-kind home.

Many of the tiles are made out of clay, by hand. Cheri rolls out the clay, cuts pieces out with cookie cutters, then embosses them with different stamps.

But the pieces do not stop at the house's build. The colorful and creative designs expand into the front yard, with tools and housewares built into the design in unimaginable ways.

Twenty-one years after purchasing this drab place, their home is a masterpiece, but the most fascinating part is that the couple actually lives there! It's a fully functioning, unique home, but also an incredible piece of artwork.

Can you imagine living in a place like this?
