Judy Garland is one of the all-time greatest icons of stage and screen. Decades after she starred as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, her luminous talent as an actress still resonates.
Tragically, Garland's star shone bright and brief. She was just 47 years old when she passed. She left behind a string of ex-husbands, and three wonderful children.
Two of those children grew up to be famous actresses in their own right, Lorna Luft and Liza Minnelli. They have both helped to enshrine their mother's legacy for future generations.
Now, Judy Garland is in the news once more, as her daughter Liza had her gravesite moved 50 years after she was first laid to rest.
The news has caused controversy for fans who bought plots of their own near Garland's original grave site. Still, Liza's reason for moving her mother's grave is incredibly sweet.

Judy Garland was one of the world's most beloved actresses and performers.
She played Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz in 1939, and went on to star in films like Meet Me in St. Louis and Easter Parade.
To this day, her rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" still stirs hearts and souls.
Despite Garland's many magnificent talents, her personal life was rocky.
She was married five times and had a complicated relationship with substance abuse.
She died when she was just 47 years old after many complicated years of ups and downs.
After her untimely death, Garland was laid to rest in New York.
Her grave site was a common pilgrimage spot for her many fans, who often brought flowers and gifts to her resting spot.
In fact, some fans loved Garland so passionately that they bought their own plots next to hers.
However, it turns out that her final resting place wasn't so final after all.
To the dismay of some fans, Liza Minnelli, Garland's eldest daughter, decided to move her mother's body.
Some 50 years after Garland was buried, her grave was unearthed.
It may seem macabre to dig up a grave, but Minnelli's reason is almost impossibly sweet.
She and her two younger siblings are getting along in years, and they realized they might never be laid to rest alongside their beloved mother.
Garland's plot in New York was crowded with neighbors, and there was nowhere for her family to lie alongside her when their own time came.
Now, Garland's body has been laid to rest a second time, this time for good.
She was interred once again in the Hollywood Forever Cemetery.
Many of her old friends, like Mickey Rooney, are buried in the same cemetery, and there will be plenty of room for her children when their times come.
