Like many children across generations, Amy Tackett, along with her sister and a friend, sent a message in a bottle one day in 1996. They imagined all the places it would go, and where it would eventually end up.
In their message, they gave their names and contact information, hoping that one day, they would get news about the message in a bottle.
That was 21 years ago. Since then, Amy had most likely forgotten about it — that was until she received a message from a total stranger.
It turned out that a man had found the plastic bottle, and surprisingly didn't just throw it away or kick it to the side. It would have been easy to dismiss, or not notice at all. He had to cut it open to get the message out and read it.
He researched Amy to find out how he could contact her — after all, her address had changed in the past 21 years.
While she was surprised that the message was found to begin with, she was perhaps even more stunned that, in 21 years, it had only traveled 15 miles away!
