Mom Thinks She’s Having An Ordinary Pregnancy, But Doctors Show Her An Ultrasound With Triplets

Grace Wilson already had a baby less than a year old when she found out she was pregnant. She and her husband, Jonathan Wilson, went in for an ultrasound at around 15 weeks.

When the doctor showed her the sonogram, she couldn't believe what she was seeing: the expectant mother was carrying triplets. Even rarer, she was carrying identical triplet boys.

The odds of having triplets are around one in 1,000 births. On top of that, the chances of having identical triplets in the U.S. is around one in a million. In 2015, there were only four sets born in the entire country.

Identical triplets are rare because it requires one fertilized egg to split into two, and then one of those eggs to split again.

Needless to say, when identical twin brothers Alex, James, and Luke were born, they were mom and dad's miracle trio. While the family didn't expect to be juggling triplets and a 19-month-old, they excitedly welcomed the new babies home.

The Wilsons had to move into a larger home to accommodate the ever-expanding family and have a YouCaring page to pay for the expenses of the move, baby supplies, and the high medical bills.

Do you have any identical triplets in your family? Let us know in the comments! And say hello to Alex, James, and Luke!
