Mom Vanessa Prado was caught by surprise when she started feeling contractions three weeks before her scheduled due date.
She knew there was no time to lose, so she got her boyfriend to drive her to the hospital. But on the way there, her water broke — they wouldn't make it to the hospital in time for the baby's birth.
She forced him to pull over into a post office parking lot, but they weren't alone for very long: two officers got the 911 call and rushed over, seeing the mom in labor.
San Diego Police Officers Matt Enderlin and Eric Hustand had never seen or done anything like it, but they prepared themselves to deliver a baby.
As Officer Hustand held Vanessa's hand, Officer Enderlin was positioned and ready to catch the baby at the right time. Pierce Dillard was welcomed into the world and into the safe and capable arms of the cop, much to the relief of his parents.
Vanessa and her newborn were rushed to the hospital, where both were given clean bills of health!
We're sure this is one call the San Diego cops will never forget.. This experience has practically made them part of Vanessa's family!
