It goes without saying that all pet owners should pay attention to the whereabouts of their animals. Now, Hingham Police are searching for the careless owner of one pup who was left out in the cold, in a cage.
Police were alerted that the dog, left by the side of the road, was obviously shivering because of the weather. But other than that, they were surprised to find him perfectly healthy and taken care of.
In fact, the small pup had been outside for less than an hour. Though animal rescuers insist that this is enough time for a pet to suffer from hypothermia, the dog was in good condition. He even had a doggy coat, toys, and food in the cage with him.
One can only speculate what went through the owner's mind, at the time. He may have simply misplaced the pup. But in any case, this little Shih Tzu is lucky to be alive!
Police and animal rescuers have certainly seen many gruesome scenes and animals that have been brutally treated, but they still say that this dog was treated cruelly.
He is not microchipped and is currently being cared for by the Animal League of Boston.
