Ta’Qualliyia Patterson was working at a McDonald's in Indianapolis, Indiana, when a simple act of kindness turned her into a local hero.
A woman named Bonnie Kandel entered the fast-food restaurant with her autistic 7-year-old son, Leif. The two of them made their orders, but were met with disappointment.
Young Leif had been searching for specific Teen Titans figures that were supposed to come with every Happy Meal. When he saw that the toy he received wasn't what he was looking for, he became visibly upset in front of everyone. Ta’Qualliyia was taken aback by the situation.
In the video below, posted on February 10, 2017, she says, "It was a shocking moment."
Realizing that the little boy was sobbing over the toy served with his food, the McDonald's employee stepped up. She asked her manager if she could sift through the toy kiosk to find Leif's figure. With permission, she took apart the container and dug out all the Teen Titans toys that her young customer craved so badly.
Ta'Qualliyia explains, “It made me feel good because I saw a kid happy and got something that they want instead of just keep crying about it.”
Bonnie was so overjoyed with what Ta'Qualliyia had done for her son, she made a post about it on Facebook, which quickly went viral. Although the McDonald's employee is now known for her generous nature, she doesn't think what she did was out of the ordinary.
Leaving one lasting piece of advice, the McDonald's hero says, "Just do something nice because you never know what you could do."
