An omphalocele, as described by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, is a birth defect in which the organs of the belly stick outside through the belly button, due to an issue with the abdominal wall. It is a rare condition, and one the Duncans, the family in the video you are about to watch, have to deal with every day of their lives.
Sarah and Jacob Duncan met in high school and quickly became inseparable sweethearts.
After they got married, they decided to travel the word, doing missionary work and helping orphans in need.
But once their mission was complete, they had aspirations of coming home, working at their church, and starting a family of their own.
Unfortunately, doctors informed Sarah that she probably wouldn't be able to get pregnant "without some help."
So, the Duncans prayed.
Then, baby Hosanna May was born.
They quickly became infatuated with their little girl with the big brown eyes, but when she was just 12 weeks old, they noticed a change in her stomach.
Doctors soon informed them that little Hosanna had an omphalocele, a condition that would require multiple surgeries and a complete lifestyle change.
Hosanna would need a special car seat so as not to burden her omphalocele, along with constant new gauze and wrappings.
And the family's insurance wasn't helping.
They had made peace with these struggles, understanding that they had to do everything they possibly could for their baby girl, but what they didn't know was that help was on the way.
