It all started out as a normal afternoon. Nasario Arellano stepped outside of his Denver, Colorado, home to bring in his garbage can. When he entered his neighborhood alleyway, he was stunned by what he saw.
In the video below, posted on March 8, 2017, the proud grandfather of 13 points to the cold cement in his alleyway and explains, "The baby was right here, laying."
"I walked up here and just picked it up and brought it in," he adds.
Nasario brought the infant inside his warm home and called the police, but didn't know how the 3-month-old ended up getting dumped in his alleyway.
The baby was inside a red Ford F-150 that had been stolen from a business in Brighton, Colorado, only two hours prior to Nasario's discovery. One of his neighbors helped put some pieces together and things began to make more sense.
"He was coming fast and then I see him park at the turnaround cause he couldn't get through the park. And then, I heard him go through the alley and then he sped up the alley," claims Lisa Hernandez, Nasario's neighbor from across the street.
The red truck just missed hitting her car as it sped down the street. Luckily, her car was fine and so was the 3-month-old inside.
When Nasario found the baby boy, he seemed to be healthy and unharmed. All he needed was a fresh diaper and a quick call for 911.
A humble Nasario tells the news crew, "I took care of it. I've raised babies, you know?"
The 3-month-old was returned to his parents, who owned the business the truck was stolen from, according to CBS News. The police are still searching for the culprit.
