Boy’s Metal Detector Goes Off On Family Farm, Then He Realizes His Grandpa Wasn’t A Liar

If Daniel Kristiansen hadn't been assigned a history project, he probably wouldn't have made this enormous discovery right behind his family's home.

The 14-year-old in Denmark was talking to his dad, Klaus, about a report he had due. The assignment's topic instantly reminded Klaus of an old story.

Klaus told The Telegraph, "When Daniel was recently given homework about World War II, I jokingly told him to go out and find the plane that is supposed to have crashed out in the field." It was a tale his grandfather told the family, though one one ever believed it.

When Daniel and his dad actually went out to the field with a metal detector, everything changed.

The device started beeping, and the Kristiansens were stunned. If their grandpa had been telling the truth, they figured that the wreckage would have been removed long ago. They were simply mistaken.

Daniel's metal detector discovered fragments of a WWII plane — a Messerschmitt, to be exact. They dug up pieces of the motor, personal belongings, and the body of the pilot. They let authorities know and soon, their property was overflowing with forensic detectives, policemen, and TV crews.

In the end, Daniel's trip to the field proved that his grandpa was telling the truth and that amazing things can happen right in your own backyard. To see what they found, check out the video below.
