Ali Johnson, a student from Tucson, Arizona, shared a shocking image. The 18-year-old ordered a pizza with a few toppings including chicken, onion, BBQ sauce, and pineapple.
She didn't think anything was unusual about her request. The delivery guy dropped it off, but when she opened up the box there was a note written on it and $5 taped to the cardboard.
"Couldn't bring myself to put pineapple on it. That's gross. Sorry," the note read.
While she thought it was funny, she would have liked her order. She called the on-campus pizzeria at the University of Arizona and they were responsive.
"They said they'd be happy to compensate me with coupons, but I just let it slide," she told Thrillist. "The $5 was enough!"
When Ali posted the images on Twitter, a debate quickly blew up. Is pineapple on pizza gross or is it delicious? I happen to think it's incredible, but even word leaders have said the fruit on a pizza is gross..
Icelandic President Gudni Thorlacius Jóhannesson recently joked that he would ban pineapple pizza if he could. Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was on Ali's side.
"I have a pineapple. I have a pizza. And I stand behind this delicious Southwestern Ontario creation. #TeamPineapple," Prime Minister Trudeau tweeted.
Clearly, this is a hot button issue. Where do you stand on the matter? Yea or nay on pineapple pizza? Let us know in the comments!
