Mom Locks Kids Out Of Bathroom, Then Posts The Reason Why On The Door

Every parent can tell you that one of the major drawbacks of having kids is losing your ability to pee in peace.

Now, one funny mama is using a hilarious bathroom door sign to let her kids know that interrupting her on the toilet is a thing of the past.

Kids, and pets for that matter, are experts at picking the worst possible moment to come to Mom with their latest emergency. Usually, it's when you're pooping.

In fact, moms everywhere can pretty much guarantee that the second they shut the door, urgent knocking will begin, followed by, "Mommy, I need you to make three dozen Frozen cupcakes for the bake sale tomorrow."

Finally, one mom decided she had had enough. In no uncertain terms, she laid out exactly why she was not to be disturbed in the bathroom, along with a few descriptions of the only justifiable reasons she would accept for bathroom interruptions.

Her signage is hysterically funny, and frankly, seems like something all parents could benefit from. Kids, be warned!

One brave unnamed mom took to Facebook to lay down some new ground rules for the children in the house.

The focus of her legislation? Keeping little ones outside of the bathroom whenever she is inside.

Her photo of the new rules in action has been shared countless times across Facebook. Most recently, it was picked up by the Facebook page Practical Parenting.

There, it racked up a huge number of supportive fellow mamas, who "liked" the photo by the thousands and added their own hilarious stories of bathroom time, interrupted.

Her sign starts:

If Mom is in this bathroom, you are NOT allowed to….

#1: Knock, unless the house is on fire or someone is bleeding and/or dead.

#2: Scream questions at me if the shower is running! Hot tip! I can't hear you!

And continues, stretching onto a second page:

#3: Wait for me within inches of the door and then yell at me when you get slammed in the face like that’s my fault.

#4: Slip me notes of any kind, especially the ones with those check boxes. Ask yourself this question before knocking… Can I survive the next two minutes without Mom? Yes. No.

You might also notice that this mama helpfully include checkboxes of her own as a visual aid for this last rule.

As far as we know, our heroic mom just stopped at those four rules, but we think that almost every mom has a few that she could add to the list.

After all, kids seem to have an uncanny knack for knowing exactly when you don't want to be disturbed and then coming on in anyway.

They even seem to have taught the skill set to household pets; to own a dog or a cat is to have a furry friend try to follow you into the W.C. at least once a day.

After all, there will be times in every mom's life where she has to bring her kid into the bathroom with her, namely every public restroom her child visits until age 10 or so.

And, let us not forget that Mom has to spend a lot of time changing diapers and wiping butts for the kiddos in her life.

We think that moms everywhere have earned the right to spend at least some of their bathroom time solo.

The challenge is getting your kids to grasp the rules for mommy's "me time." This sign seems to indicate the need for a three-pronged strategy.

First: hang your sign. Second: perfect the brush off, "Go ask Daddy." Third: barricade yourself in there with snacks and a good book and enjoy your victory!

Your kids may be cute, but your bathroom privacy is sacred. If you agree with this hilarious mom's brilliant sign, be sure to SHARE for all the funny mamas you know!
