Old Man Can’t Buy Groceries. Then Dollar General Cashier Sees His Hat And Reaches Into Pocket

Tim McKellar was shopping at a Dollar General in Salisaw, Oklahoma, when he witnessed a simple act of kindness that made him go on Facebook and tell everyone what happened.

An elderly man in line found himself unable to purchase his own groceries after he couldn't remember his card's PIN number. A woman in line attempted to help him out, but the card was still getting declined.

That's when the cashier stepped up to the plate. Without a word, he quietly paid for the man's groceries, worth $20, after noticing his hat — the elderly gentleman was a veteran.

Tim captured a photo of the cashier, whom he identified as a man by the name of Jacob Wittman. Now, he's calling for Jacob to receive all the praise he deserves for his kindness. Tim suspects that he does not have a lot of money himself, so he knows this act came from the heart!

I just witnessed one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen and would love to share the story with y’all and give credit where it’s due.

An elderly gentleman was trying to buy a few things at the Dollar general in Salisaw Oklahoma when his card was declined because he couldn’t remember his PIN number.

He tried a couple different times when another lady offered to help him again with no luck.

That’s when the cashier Jacob Wittman pulled his wallet out and told the lady to scan his card which ended up working without any problem. The old man wearing his veteran hat was obviously confused and asked the kid if he had just bought his stuff totaling right at $20.

Jacob said yes sir I did and you don’t owe me a dime. Now this kid obviously makes minimum wage or real close to it and probably didn’t have the extra money to spare. I thanked him for what he had done, asked for his name and took his picture.

Let’s give this Good Samaritan the acknowledgement that he deserves.
P.S after people recognized him and started tagging him in the comments I was able to send him a friend request and add him to the post.

Please SHARE if you think the world needs more people like Jacob, the kind Dollar General cashier!
