Mom Calls High School A ‘Dark Place’ For Teen Daughter — Then She Meets A Special Friend

Teens Tanner Bufton and Abby Smith have a very special friendship unlike any other. Their fondness for one another goes beyond what others see: a student who has taken to a young man with Down syndrome.

While Tanner may have many "girlfriends," any mention of Abby makes him blush. Likewise, she has a story to tell about how he helps her. Five years ago, she was diagnosed with depression. But her friendship with Tanner brought light when high school became a "dark place" for her.

They are an inseparable duo, and Abby knows that this is just the beginning of their relationship. She already plans to have him be a part of big events in her life, like her wedding, when that occurs.

The young man has already made quite an impression on Abby, but made an even bigger one with his sweet promposal. He brought her flowers and a note saying, "Can I steal you for prom?"

A video of the promposal is even going viral, stealing hearts all across the internet!

The two look forward to spending the special day together in May, and Abby couldn't be more proud and happy to be going with her best friend. She tells WIFR, "I just wanted to get it across to my friends and family that I had a prom date, and a pretty cute one."
