Third Grader Walks Into Classroom, Then Finds Unexpected Note About Him Written On Desk

It was the first morning of standardized testing for the third graders in Jennifer Caram's class. When the students walked into their classroom in Florida's Dr. Manuel C. Barreiro Elementary School, they were greeted with a very special surprise on each desk.

In the video below, posted on March 28, 2017, the students seem nervous about taking their exams until they see what their beloved teacher had left for each of them.

One boy looks down at his desk and reads a positive message about himself written onto his desk. Soon, it becomes clear that he isn't alone. Each student has a personalized note about his or her strengths and performance in order to increase their confidence for the exams.

Jennifer explains, "I knew that it was going to touch a little string, just to give them the little boost they needed to do their best." She says she and some other teachers looked up ideas on Pinterest and Instagram to help encourage their students on test day.

The students definitely appreciate their individual messages and find it helps them feel better about taking the exams.

One third grader named Diego Menendez tells a reporter, "It said that my teachers knew that I could do good on the test, that I was a very smart student."

Jennifer and the other third-grade teachers have a whole list of ideas like the desk notes in order to inspire their students before each exam day. Thanks to them, their students now have the extra push they need to perform their best.
