Man Runs Down Street With No Shoes Or Shirt, Sprints Into Burning Home To Warn Neighbors

Only a few years ago, it was customary to know your neighbors well. Perhaps you exchanged gifts or spoke to one another at community events. Today, however, it's becoming more and more common for people to ignore their neighbors.

That didn't prevent Mike Oliver from rushing to save total strangers.

Mike thought his neighborhood was about to catch fire when flames erupted at a neighboring complex, sending hot ash and embers to surrounding areas. The possibility for other, smaller fires to start was real.

Mike, a restaurant manager and father of three, rushed to action. He knew there were elderly people in the surrounding apartments who likely needed assistance, so he went from door to door, asking if there was anyone inside who needed help. Some apartments were already filling up with smoke.

Shirtless and shoeless, he persisted, sometimes breaking through windows to rescue people and pets alike.

Mike wasn't the only person who answered the call of duty. A father-and-son team also managed to potentially save a few lives by helping out!

Due to his efforts, Mike sustained a few cuts on his hands and burns on his feet. He probably feels those injuries were well worth the effort, considering he's now thinking of becoming a firefighter.
