With prom season just around the corner, students are making all the important plans: whom they will attend the event with, how they will get there, and of course, what they will wear.
Some of the latest dress trends can be deemed by some parents to be a little racy for their teen daughters, and many moms and dads will feel the need to monitor their daughters' attire for the night. But many of them agree that this is their job — not a school's. It's quite common for a school to impose a dress code on their students, especially on prom night, to ensure that it's a safe and memorable night for all. If the students do not comply, they risk being denied entry to prom.
One teacher at a Florida high school took it upon him or herself to tell the female students what kinds of dresses would and would not be allowed at prom. The Stanton College Prep High School employee hung flyers in the school's hallways, picturing the many fashions that would not be allowed, including slits, low-cut dresses, and backless one.
Under a photo of an "'acceptable" dress were the words "good girl," which angered students and parents alike. They took to social media to denounce the flyers, calling them insulting and old-fashioned.
The school apologized for the teacher's actions and took down the flyers.
What to you think about a prom dress code? Are these fashions too racy for school? Does your teen's school have a prom dress code like this? Sound off in the comments below.
