When in the midst of an emergency situation, like a serious medical emergency, one can only hope that there are folks around, friends or strangers, who can help. You never know who can save your life!
So when Brendan McBride suffered a heart attack on a roof he was working on, it seemed like the worse possible situation.
Instead, it turned out to be a blessing in disguise — a miracle, as some would believe.
At any point he could have died: Not only was he suffering the medical emergency, but he nearly fell off the roof as he clutched his chest. But a colleague working with him caught him in time, and pulled him back, preventing him from plummeting headfirst onto the concrete.
Then he was lowered to the ground, and luckily another man knew CPR and was able to assist.
Thanks to them, and later the paramedics and doctors who attended to him, the father of three is still alive.
He talks about his experience almost as if it were divine intervention: He may have been close to death, but God determined that it wasn't yet his time!
What an incredible set of circumstances that led to Brendan's survival. One can only wish to be so lucky!
