It's hard to know how you'd react to an emergency until you're right there in the middle of it. Luckily for the man behind the wheel in the video below, two strangers didn't waste a moment before diving in to assist him.
We usually hear stories like this from the men and women who sign up for such dangerous tasks, such as police officers and other first responders. But the men who dove in to save the day were just two ordinary citizens — though, of course, now they're being hailed as heroes.
One of the men is a teacher named Russell Aaron. He isn't so sure about his new lofty title, though — in fact, Russell said he didn't even think before jumping into the water.
When he arrived at the driver's side, the man in the water revealed that he had driven into the lake on purpose. He begged Russell to leave him alone. The teacher wouldn't have any of it, though, telling him, "Not today, bubba." Eventually, another man helped pull him back to land.
Police have since said the man Russell rescued is doing much better and has commended the heroic actions that took place that day.
