As temperatures climb all across the country, animals start to come out of hiding and back into view. Nature is awakened in the springtime, and everything seems to be more alive!
This also means that ice is melting, and rivers and lakes that were frozen over during the wintertime will be flowing freely again.
That's how a moose in Northern Minnesota got stuck in freezing water. A pack of wolves had likely chased the young female onto the thin ice of a lake. It cracked under pressure, half submerging the frantic moose.
Luckily, a lodge owner saw the moose and called for rescuers to intervene.
It took the rescuers an hour to pull the moose out of the freezing water, but in the end, they managed to get her out! In the photos taken at the scene, the moose calmly stands in front of her rescuers, just relieved that she's no longer moments away from death.
Who know how long she would have survived if that lodge owner had not called authorities. She's certainly very lucky!
