Disabled Daughter Says ‘God Woke Her Up’ At 3 A.M., Then Realizes House Is Filling Up With Smoke

Tamesha Brittenum is just 8 years old and has spina bifida, a condition that confines her to a wheelchair. But neither of those facts stopped her from being the one who saved her entire family from a fire that destroyed their house.

Tamesha woke up in the middle of the night, at 3 a.m., and screamed for her dad.

She says that "God woke her up," which allowed her to see the smoke quickly filling up the rooms. When her dad woke up, too, realizing the danger they were in, he moved the entire family of eight safely out of the house.

The Brittenums escaped with little more than their lives. They left behind all of their belongings, including the equipment the parents need for their jobs. Now, they're staying in a hotel, living off of the kindness of others.

Though this horrific event took away their livelihood and left them without basic essentials, they are surviving as best they can. They mention that God put them in this situation for a reason, and are thankful that there were no casualties in the fire.

And of course, they credit young Tamesha for saving their lives!
