For the last 26 months, Denise Armijo was abroad, working for the United States Army. All the while, she was away from her family — more specifically, away from her beloved grandson Jude.
She worked 12-hour days for over two years. Today, she is happy to be back.
Her grandkids thought she'd be returning in May, but she decided surprising her grandson just couldn't wait.
Jude, on the other hand, had no idea what awaited him! Even with his classroom being flooded by strangers with cameras, he never expected it was his grandma making her return.
He actually thought there may have been something prom-related going on at Albuquerque High School — 'tis the season, after all!
Instead, as shown in the video below, the cameras were there tracking Denise's trip to the school as she made her way to reunite with her beloved grandson for the first time in over two years.
When she finally arrived to his classroom, a teacher announced: "We have a special guest!"
The cameras captured Denise's ecstatic reaction as Jude rushed forward to embrace her.
Check out their long-awaited reunion in the video below, and please SHARE this story if you love when our men and women in uniform finally get to come home!
