Well, for one teenage couple, the prom dress reveal turned out to be more emotional than either of them could have imagined.
Devin Collier and Nolanah Garcia have been dating for three years, and this year they were excited to go to prom together.
Nolanah attends Southside High School in San Antonio, Texas, which is where Devin went to high school as well, before he graduated two years ago.
This year, when he saw Nolanah's prom dress, he was completely caught off guard.

Nolanah came out in her stunning dress on prom night, and Devin started crying.
Nolanah Tweeted about the interaction, and her Tweet quickly went viral, with over 129,000 likes and 32,000 retweets.
Nolanah's Tweet said, "And here was Devin's reaction & me telling him to stop crying cause I was gonna cry and mess up my makeup."
In the pictures that she included, you can see Devin wiping his eyes, and Nolanah eventually turning around and covering her own face, trying not to cry.
Although Nolanah knew she looked good in her prom dress — a royal blue crop top two-piece — she definitely didn't expect Devin to react the way he did.
As soon as Devin started crying, Nolanah was blown away and felt the tears coming to her eyes as well.
People everywhere saw Nolanah's Tweet and thought it was the cutest thing they'd ever seen.
Some people told Nolanah how stunning she looked in her dress, while others responded saying this is the kind of love they want to find in life.
Devin's extremely raw emotions over seeing Nolanah in her dress made her feel very loved.
Although almost any boy loves seeing his girlfriend's prom dress, it's pretty unusual for a teenage boy to react like this.
