Kindergartner Aliana Duce was enjoying a normal Thursday at Cypress Trails Elementary School in Palm Beach, Florida.
The little girl was with the rest of her classmates, practicing for an upcoming Memorial Day assembly performance.
The last thing she expected to see that day was her dad.
Army Specialist Johnnie Duce had been stationed overseas in Kuwait for nine months. He had only been able to see his beloved daughter and family through Skype.
But on April 26, 2017, the family finally saw each other in person.
While Aliana was busy with her performance, her dad entered the room with a bouquet of flowers in hand and a smile on his face.
"Daddy!" she yelled, both shocked and ecstatic, before running into her dad's awaiting arms.
Coincidently, it was also the first time Specialist Duce was seeing his son, Jackson, since the boy was 2 months old!
"It's amazing, it's a beautiful feeling. I can't explain it — just blessed," Johnnie said, holding his family close.
Johnnie had been stationed in Ft. Stewart in Georgia before being deployed to Kuwait in the summer of 2016.
Now, he is looking forward to spending time with his family once again.
