Alex Carlson-Helo is the reigning winner of Miss Washington USA 2017. The Seattle Mariners invited Alex to throw out the first pitch at Safeco Field in Seattle, Washington, before a baseball game against the Chicago White Sox.
Or so Alex thought!
In the video below, the announcer introduced Alex to the crowd at the stadium, and then she walked over to the mound and awaited her moment.
The announcer followed up with the catcher's introduction, but he did not disclose the catcher's name.
Hint-hint!
So as the catcher positioned himself at the plate, the reigning Miss Washington set herself up to throw the first pitch.
She had pretty good form too!
The catcher caught her pitch and then, as per tradition, jogged over to meet her so he could give the ball back to her as a keepsake. When he took off his mask, he revealed himself to be none other than her boyfriend, Tom Juel.
He got down on one knee.
Alex was hysterical by that point! She couldn't contain her emotions. It even got to the point where Tom had to reach out to take her hand, as she was completely paralyzed in shock!
