Even when we're watching the legendary talents listed below, on our much smaller-than-movie-theater screens at home, their massive level of talent makes them seem so much more overwhelming than might meet the eye in person.
That, plus some sneaky camera tricks used back in the day — especially for the leading men wanting to appear the tall, dark, and handsome archetype so sought-after by studios.
But even a few of the ladies might surprise you by just how small in stature they really were! Of course, that only helped their male co-stars with the optical illusions, as with the classic pairing of Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney.
Still, I have a feeling most folks had no idea just how petite Judy really was, even after she'd outgrown her childhood roles.
