I'm the first to admit that many of my attempts at the projects I find on Pinterest wind up being total DIY fails — but at least I've never done something quite as bad as the ones listed below!
Whether they're attempting to "MacGyver" a so-called clever solution to a problem in their home or trying what was supposed to be a simple craft project, they all fall pretty darn far from the mark.
You can't blame them for trying, though, even if the result isn't quite as aesthetically pleasing as things you'd find on a DIY blog. We've all been in that situation where we're just desperate to have even a quick fix to a frustrating issue, despite knowing it probably won't last very long.
However, some of the more precarious ideas below should definitely never be recreated.

1. Kitchen Exhaust Fan
It might get the job done, but what happens when they need that wooden spoon?
2. Pallet Bed
The mattress-to-pallet ration is just a tad off on this rough attempt at a popular DIY craft.
3. Iron Stove
Nope, this is definitely a disaster just waiting to happen.
4. Toilet Humidifier
I really, really hope it's been awhile since anyone used this throne before they decided to give this a try.
5. Cardboard Nightstand
Maybe if they'd just nixed the cardboard aspect and added a little paint to the pallet box, this would have been on another list entirely.
6. Mismatched Rock Wall
This is one that was probably better left to a professional.
7. TV Switch
I guess this is at least cheaper than shelling out for a whole new TV.
8. Cardboard Phone Case
It might not look great, but the thick cardboard probably protects this phone pretty darn well.
9. Miserable Macramé
How did they make this look so easy in the 1970s?
10. Painting The Wall
This is what happens when you only pay attention to half of a DIY painting hack — taking the cover off was smart, but not putting tape over the sockets was not.
11. Chair Coffee Table
It's like they're asking to pick up shattered glass from their living room floor.
