This Photo Series Of Adorable Older Pups Makes Us Want To Hug A Senior Dog

Adopting a pet is one of the most rewarding decisions a person can make. After all, every dog deserves a loving family and a place to call home.

Unfortunately, it can be harder for some dogs to get adopted. Sweet senior pups often go unnoticed by prospective adopters because of their age.

Los Angeles-based photographer Casey Elise was heartbroken over the countless senior dogs who spend months in shelters without being adopted. She decided to take matters into her own hands.

Casey photographed a series of senior dogs for the website of her local animal shelter — with one amazing twist. She gave the dogs peanut butter before each photo! Of the project, Casey wrote on her website, “I find that people see those pictures online and come into the shelter seeking that specific animal, because he or she looks silly and fun.”

Thanks to Casey’s brilliant idea, all but two of the pups have been adopted, and it is easy to understand why. The results are equal parts hilarious and heartwarming, but don’t take my word for it. Check out her senior dog photo series below, and click here to see more of her work.
