The Olympic Games are all about some of the most talented people from all over the world coming together in the hopes of winning a gold medal — either with a team or individually (or even both). Still, it never fails to blow us away when we realize just how impressive these athletes are, regardless of age. Case in point: Arisa Trew, the 14-year-old Australian who is taking home a gold medal in women's skateboarding.

Arisa was in third place before her final skateboarding run on August 6, but she managed to pull off a score of 93.18 at the women's park skateboard event, earning herself the gold medal at 14 years old.
Not only did the win make Arisa the first Australian woman to win a gold medal in skateboarding, but she also became the youngest Australian gold medalist in history
"I wasn’t really nervous — I just need to think it’s another skate comp and have fun with all my friends and skate my best. All I really wanted to do was land a solid run," she told reporters, according to The Guardian.
While Arisa might have been the youngest to medal at the skateboarding event, she was surrounded by two other talented teenagers on the podium.
Cocona Hiraki of Japan, who is 15 years old, won the silver medal, and 16-year-old Sky Brown of Great Britain won bronze.
And though she didn't score high enough to participate in the final, 11-year-old Zeng Haohao from China — the youngest athlete at the 2024 Olympics — also competed in skateboarding. At her age (or any age, for that matter), it says a lot just to qualify for the games in the first place!

Arisa still has something exciting to look forward to after winning her medal. In an interview with Australian outlet Nine, she revealed that her parents promised her a pet duck if she brought home the gold.
"Because they are really cute, then I can take it on walks and take it to the skate park," she said. "My parents definitely wouldn't let me get a dog or a cat because we are traveling so much right now. But I feel like a duck might be a little bit easier, and … I don't know, I just want a duck."
Arisa has so many things to celebrate, duck included. She deserves to enjoy her new pet after making such a major accomplishment at such a young age!
