A horrific tragedy took place in Englewood, Florida, on a Friday night. An elderly woman fell into a pond near her home at the Boca Royale Golf & Country Club and was killed by alligators.
The woman had apparently fallen into the pond at the golf course and struggled to stay afloat. Then alligators appeared and attacked her.
The sheriff’s office received a call about the incident at 7:47 p.m. The woman was found dead at the scene, after her body was seen being dragged around by one of the alligators.
After the incident, both of the alligators were removed from the pond by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Apparently, one of the alligators was nearly 9 feet long, and the second alligator was just over 7½ feet long.
