You don’t have to be part of the so-called manosphere to know who Andrew Tate is. That might mean that everything you know of the internet personality and former professional kickboxer is against your will, but that’s kind of where we’re at. When he and his brother, Tristan Tate, were arrested in 2022 on charges related to human trafficking and rape, some assumed that the pair would fade into obscurity. But no, the men remained in the zeitgeist. So much so that when they were arrested in 2026 for extradition to the UK from the United States, it wasn’t a huge surprise.
Now, because of that 2026 arrest the brothers faced, an old clip of Andrew has resurfaced on TikTok where he claims to be close to the Trump family. Yes, this is the same man who has spoken about the male influence and importance on podcasts. But even though he claims the Trump family, do any of them actually claim him?
Andrew Tate claimed to have a friendship with Barron Trump.
@nowthisimpact Andrew Tate said this in 2025 after the Trump admin pressured Romania to lift travel restrictions on him and his brother Tristan while they awaited trial for human trafficking there. Now — a year later — the brothers have been arrested in Miami on similar charges, facing extradition to the UK.

In a clip that came out in 2024 after Trump’s assassination attempt, Andrew shares details about his alleged relationship with the family. At the time, Andrew and Tristan had both been issued arrest warrants in the UK relating to the accusations of sex trafficking and rape. Neither brother was convicted at that time, but, Andrew says in the clip on TikTok, he wanted to see the Trump family when he was “free.”
“I’m very close to the Trump family, I know them well, and I spoke to Barron after the incident and I look forward to, once I am free, being with Donald Trump in person and reminding him that he’s a bulletproof badass,” Andrew says in the video.
This confirms with many that Andrew is close, or at least was once close, to the Trump family. It also proves that, at least according to Andrew, he got an “in” because of Barron and because of his misogynist manosphere rhetoric.
One user commented on the TikTok, “Literally narcissistic male predators right in front of our eyes.”
Another person pointed out Andrew’s claim about Barron and added, “Y’all not watching Baron close enough bruh.”
“Sexual predators have sexual predator friends,” someone else commented. “That’s my take away.”
Andrew Tate has not been convicted yet.

As of July 2026, Andrew and Tristan have not been convicted of the crimes they are accused of. There are, however, warrants out for their arrests in the UK. They also faced charges in the United States, and in July 2026, they were arrested in Miami, Fla. According to PBS, the brothers are fighting against being extradited to the UK. That’s where the concern comes in for some who believe Trump might have some leniency on the brothers, if given the opportunity to weigh in.
Despite the growing worry about what, if anything, Trump might do to help the brothers, according to the New York Post, there are no plans to fight the extradition of the brothers.
A Department of Justice official said, per the outlet, “The secretary has not spoken to the Tate Brothers or their lawyers. The State Department has no plans to act on this matter at this time.”
Donald Trump Jr. spoke out for Andrew Tate at one point.
In 2022, Andrew and Tristan were detained in Romania for their alleged crimes. In 2023, Donald Trump Jr. posted on X (formerly Twitter) to call the entire situation “absolute insanity,” seemingly in support of Andrew at the time. In 2025, The New York Times claimed that Andrew had a relationship with Barron and Don Jr., but that has not been confirmed. Still, it’s easy to see why people are a bit concerned about the Tates walking free.
