Ashley Graham Claps Back After Harsh Criticism About Decision To Stop Breastfeeding Twins

Breastfeeding is a lot of work. It’s constant pumping, getting up in the middle of the night to feed, swollen breasts, extreme discomfort at times, and little to no time to yourself. It’s a difficult task with just one baby; if you add another one into the mix, I can only imagine the stress.

Ashely Graham was on The Daily Show with guest host Chelsea Handler when she discussed her decision to stop breastfeeding her twins. She got a lot of criticism for making this decision, even though it is not OK to judge a mother when it comes to her choices about breastfeeding.

This criticism, though, did not stop Ashley from clapping back at her haters. During her chat with Chelsea, Ashely said, “With my first kid, I was like ‘I can only breastfeed! This is the right way!’ then I had the twins, and I was like, ‘I’m not doing this. This is not working here. Both of you want both of these?! This is a lot of work.”

Ashley then said what every mother is thinking when they are faced with this kind of situation: “I don’t think we should be telling people how they should be feeding their kids.” She also informed viewers that after she stopped nursing five months after having her twins Malachi and Roman, they are strong and very happy on formula.

Ashley became a mother in January 2020 when she had her son Isaac, who is now 3. She had her twins two years later. She already has her hands full with a toddler, but once she added on twin boys, you know the chaos level rose quite a bit.

There are many mothers out there who are very strict about only breastfeeding. What some people don’t understand is some women have trouble producing breast milk, or their breast milk isn’t enough for their hungry baby! Breast milk is also digested more quickly than formula, so babies are hungry a lot sooner when they are consuming only breastmilk.

Ashley’s confidence is not going unnoticed by mothers who have also struggled to keep breastfeeding their babies. A reminder for everyone, though: You do not need to tell a mother how or what to feed her baby!
